DOGE'S PALACE

Home of the Doges and symbol of the Serenissima Republic, the "Palazzo Ducale" is the most astonishing and important example of Venetian Gothic architecture.
Booking is mandatory only for the Secret Itineraries tour.

CLOCK TOWER (TORRE DELL'OROLOGIO)

Finally reopened after a long restoration this tower remains one of the most famous architectural landmarks in Venice,
The Astronomical Clock is considered a masterpiece of technology.

There are several small spaces linked by narrow and steep stairs; the visit is not recommended to pregnant women or to anybody who suffers from claustrophobia, vertigo or heart conditions and respiratory diseases.
All visitors must be over 12 years of age.

ACADEMY GALLERIES
(GALLERIE DELL'ACCADEMIA)


Hosted in a Palladian convent, the galleries host a great collection of works by Tiepolo, Bellini, Tiziano, Giorgione, Veronese, Carpaccio, Tintoretto. On the second floor, the long corridor of the Quadreria is used to exhibit works that were held in the deposits of the museum (the Quadreria can be visited, on Saturdays or Sundays with reservation.)

CORRER MUSEUM

This museum features a vast collection of both written works and objects belonging to the Serenissima Republic. It opens with a collection of sculptures by Canova, and it features a renown picture gallery.

This library is known for holding the famous 15th century planisphere, along with more than a million of volumes of priceless manuscripts .

CA' D'ORO
(GALLERIA GIORGIO FRANCHETTI ALLA CA' D'ORO)


The Ca' D'Oro is the best example of a decorative architecture which characterized the period between the 14th & 15th century in Venice. The museum hosts paintings, especially from Tuscany and central Italy, important Venetian and Flemish art pieces, carpets, furniture, terra-cotta models, and sculptures from various churches that were closed after the fall of the Venetian Republic.

MUSEUM OF ASIAN ART (in CA' PESARO)
MUSEO D'ARTE ORIENTALE


The 30000-pieces museum collection was assembled during a trip in the XIX century by Enrico di Borbone. A group of Japanese objects from the Edo (1600-1868) period is of major interest and includes a series of paintings, a collection of weapons, armatures, parade memorabilia, porcelains, musical instruments, games. There is a section dedicated to China (jade and porcelains,) and Indonesia (weapons, textiles, theater props, musical instruments.)

GUGGENHEIM COLLECTION

Located in the Palazzo Venier dei Leoni (former Peggy Guggenheim's home,) the museums constitutes one of the greatest collection of European and American art of the 20th century. Works by Jackson Pollock, Kandinsky, De Stijil, Brancusi, Dubuffet. Giacometti, Calder, Moore, Arp, Vedova, Vail, Modigliani, Carrà, Sironi, Morandi, Picasso, Ernst, Tancredi. Also, an interesting collection of tribal art from Africa and Oceania, and a temporary exhibition.

NATIONAL ARCHEOLOGICAL MUSEUM

The museum offers an overview of greek art, with works dating from the 5th and 6th century b.c. It displays both original Greek and Roman copies of several interesting pieces, collected by Cardinal Grimani, who seems to have had one of the finest art collector's sensibility of all times.

MOCENIGO'S PALACE MUSEUM

Hosted within a 16th-century palazzo once owned by the famous Doge dinasty, this museum holds furnishing from the end of the 18th century. You'll be able to admire stuccos and painting portraiyng life at that time, a collection of textile and costumes made at the end of the 19th century, and textile samples dating from the 14th to the 18th century, from Venice, Tuscany, the Netherlands and Asia.
