The origin of the Regata storica goes back to 1489 when Caterina Cornaro, queen of Cyprus, abdicated and came back to her native
land. For this historical reason the competition is preceded by a unique procession, the Corteo Storico, remembering the entrance of the Queen in the city. In this parade gondoliers in costumes sail in characteristic 16th century boats, following the Bucintoro, which was the Doge's state galley.
Experience a colourful, picturesque and stunning sailors’ show which will enliven Venice’s waters. The most amazing fact is that you will observe it from your gondola! The tour will start from Bacino Orseolo; sitting in the gondola you will follow the historical evocation all the way through Rialto. Some stops in the Grand Canal and during the trip are planned to offer you the special opportunity to admire the exclusive boats from a close distance. Meeting time: 3:15 pm
