The island of Murano was once famous for its beautiful villas and gardens and nowadays is the centre of the world famous Venetian glass industry. You will have a chance to visit a glass blowing factory to see the intriguing technique of glass making. Proceed to the fishing village of Burano, where each house is painted a different colour and famous for its lace making. Continue on to the beautiful island of Torcello which was the first island inhabited by the Veneto people fleeing from the Visigoti invasion. On the island there are only the lovely remains of time amongst which the Cathedral (rebuilt in the 11th century), with its magnificent Byzantine mosaics, and the Church of Santa Fosca (about 1000 a.D.).
