The Veneto region encompasses the area around Venice and is comprised of the larger towns of Verona, Vicenza, Padua, and Treviso as well as the smaller towns of Marostica, Bassano del Grappa, Lonigo, Asolo, the hot springs towns of Montegrotto Terme and Abano Terme.

Used as the setting for Shakespeare’s classic play, “The Taming of the Shrew,”  Padua’s unique layout and architecture is as renowned as its institution of higher learning, the University of Padua. This almost 800 year old school can claim Galileo as one of its former lecturers. Another one of Padua's jewels is the Scrovegni Chapel, one of Giotto's most important achievements.

Vicenza is home to numerous villas and buildings by Andrea Palladio, the famous architect from the 1500‘s. These important contributions to architectural history earned Vicenza a 1996 Unesco designation for Vicenza, "City of Palladio and the Palladian Villas of the Veneto". 

Verona is most famous for its amphitheatre, the Arena, completed around 30 AD, the third largest in Italy, next to the  Colosseum in Rome and the arena in Capua. The inside of the theater has survived to this day and is still in use for events including the Summer Festival running each June through August each year.  The House of Juliet is a popular site with visitors from around the world. Verona has a well earned reputation for being a romantic city.  The town of Treviso boasts the amazing Gothic church of San Francesco, built by the Franciscan community in the late 1200‘s. Inside  the church is a Romanesque Byzantine fresco portraying St. Christopher from the 13th century.  Piazza Rinaldi, one of the main palaces of the Rinaldi family is a popular attraction.

One of the most unique and popular destinations for outdoor sports enthusiasts is the Dolomites. A part of the Southern Limestone Alps, it is located in north-eastern Italy and is popular for lovers of for skiing, mountain climbing, hiking, and base jumping, as well as hang gliding. Known for their ethereal beauty and artistic peaks seeming to cut the blue sky above, the Dolomites will take your breath away even before your sports adventure begins.
