Umbria

People visit  the “Green Heart” of Italy to feel the energy of nature and of the Saints. The region is known for the spiritual feelings conveyed to its visitors through its mountainous landscapes and medieval architecture.  Umbria is the Land of St Francis of Assisi, founder of the Franciscan Religious Order, who performed miracles in Gubbio as well as Saint Clare (Chiara,) founder of the Poor Sisters, which later became  the Order of the Poor Clares. The region is also known for its wine and cuisine, and its delicious saltless bread known as Pane Azimo. Umbria offers a great opportunity to explore medieval towns like, Todi, Spello, Orvieto, Bevagna, Deruta, Cittá della Pieve, and others. The region is famous for its colorful ceramics and its art. Music lovers enjoy the Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto and The Umbia Jazz festival, which has been attracting music lovers since 1973.
