Turin and Piedmont
Turin is known for its winter sports as well as its cuisine and history. Featuring the Egyptian Museum and the Museum of the Shroud, Turin is considered the city of magic and attracts lovers of the strange and mysterious. Turin is located in the region of Piedmont, a favorite for lovers of cheese, Nutella, Barolo wine and chocolate and is a main producer of Arborio rice which is used throughout Italy to make Risotto. Rich in history, Piedmont is home to fabulous “open air” museums which were the abandoned homes, stores and schools of workers from before the economic revolutions of the 1960’s.
