Just after the last small cottages of Donnini village, Villa Pitiana sparkles of elegant yellow in the green wood landscape. In the evening the yellow colour is spread throughout by the lights of the old golden lamps and amplified by the festoons of crystal in the hall and dining room.
Villia Pitiana park originates from the XIX century renovations which changed the estate from a farmhouse to a Villa.
The arboretum is rich of non-native trees as typical of English arboretums during the end of last century.
The arboretum is in the nearby of the Villa and it is one of the most important in Tuscany together with the one in Vallombrosa. At the base of each plant a plate reports the Italian and Latin names, the description of the plant and its origins. A wide range of documents on plant species is available for the guests in the Villa library. The park is also rich of herbs typical of the area: Milfoil, Sorrel, Asparagus fern, Camomile, Sow-thistle, Dandelion, Juniper, Mint, Calamint, Burnet. Villa Pitiana owes its historical charm to its variety: each room is unique, furnished in antiques, unequalled.

Laticastelli was originally a castle built in the thirteenth century that was destroyed and rebuilt as a farm and winery. Finally it turned into a small medieval village that, reconstructed as a Country Relais, maintains its original charm and character. The old cellars of the winery were recycled into LA TAVERNA. Laticastelli is a secluded and quiet place. Perched on a hill with a beautiful road of cypresses, an impressive view of the surrounding countryside, the village main street leads to a park with cedars and flowers. At the bottom of valley, close to the river Ombrone that limits the 50 hectares property, there is a polo field; further away olive trees, vineyards and grain fields. The woods with winding paths make it an ideal place to ride, walk or just relax.
