cant jeuvCANTE' J'EUV - every year on the Saturday before Palm Sunday

The most authentic folklore of Roero is back: a weekend to discover the Lenten rite of Cantè J’Euv, whose symbology dates back to the pre-Christian period, recovered and appreciated in all of Roero; a spring alms collection that still today gathers groups of young people who set off from the hills towards the farmyards of the most isolated farms, singing and playing music. The “song of the eggs” wakes up the landlord and is a good omen for the new upcoming seasonal cycle. The request of eggs is useful for the preparation of the great festive celebration on the scenic background of the Rocche, majestic, natural amphitheatres of sandy walls. An occasion to really experience the festival, with choirs and live folk music around the Lenten bonfires.

The most authentic folklore of Roero is back: one weekend to discover the popular celebrations for Saint John’s night. In the scenic background of the Rocche, deep sandy-walled cliffs that suddenly open up between the gentle hills of Roero, purifying bonfires will dominate the landscape being lit on and off, on top of hills and in the highest glades. The ritual bonfires have a pagan origin and are used ideally to celebrate the summer solstice: fires and music in honour of the sun in order to gain its goodwill and ideally slow down its descent. A weekend to walk in the mild silence of nature to reach the top boroughs, small villages hidden on the ridge of the Rocche, and enjoy the magic of the festive time.falo
