CAPPELLA DEGLI SCROVEGNI
Marvelously decorated at the beginning of the 1300s, this chapel contains one of the most complete series of frescos by Giotto. The great master illustrated three stories: the lives of Joachim and Anna, the life of the Virgin Mary, and the life of Christ. At the bottom of these series, Giotto portrayed Vices and Virtues in allegory. These frescoes can especially be appreciated for the quality of the light and the colors, and the sense of encompassing mysticism embracing the vault of the chapel.
