UFFIZI GALLERY

One of the richest and most important art collection in the world, this museum contains classical sculptures, tapestries, furnishings and painted masterpieces of the 13th - 15th century, among which: Portraits of the Dukes of Urbino (Piero della Francesca,)Primavera and Birth of Venus (Botticelli,) Adoration of the Magi (Leonardo,) Madonna del Cardellino and Pope Leo X (Rafael,) Venus of Urbino (Titian,) Madonna with the long neck (Parmigianino,) Baccus (Caravaggio...) far too many to list!

ACCADEMY GALLERY

Besides one of the most famous scultptures in the world, the David by Michelangelo, you can admire other artworks, including Giovanni da Milano's "La Pietà," Lorenzo Monaco's "Annunciation," Botticelli's "Madonna del Mare," as well as gesso models by Lorenzo Bartolini and Luigi Pampaloni.

BRANCACCI CHAPEL

In this chapel you will be able to admire a cycle of frescoes by Masolino, Masaccio and Filippino Lippi representing the life of Saint Peter's & the Original Sin. Admire the different sensibility of the three artists who worked at the frescoes between 1425 and 1485.

PALAZZO VECCHIO

This palace used to be the siege of the Signoria, and of the Medici family. The entrance court is decorated with white and gold stuccos and frescoes from the 1500s. The first floor hosts the Salone del Cinquecento, which had been frescoed originally by Michelangelo and Leonardo and then by Vasari and his followers. The rooms on the first floor are dedicated each to one of the Medici (Cosimo, Il Vecchio, Lorenzo, Leone, etc.) with relative frescoes. The second floor hosts the "Quartiere degli Elementi", a chapel decorated by Bronzino, conference rooms (sala dell'Udienza and Sala dei Gigli) richly decorated, and the Loeser collection, which includes works by Tino da Camaino, Berruguete, Rustici, Bronzino, Cellini.

VASARI CORRIDOR

The Vasari Corridor’s expense runs from the Uffizi Gallery to the Boboli Gardens. There’s an excellent view of Ponte Vecchio, the most famous and oldest bridge in Florence. You can see self-portraits by Reni, Rembrant, Rubens, Guercino.

Reservation for the Vasari Corridor is mandatory. The visit is combined with that of the Uffizi. It's not possible to visit the Vasari Corridor by itself. The tour lasts about 3 hours.

NATIONAL MUSEUM OF BARGELLO

The museum is hosted in the Capitano del Popolo palace and it contains masterpieces by Michelangelo, Donatello, Bernini, Cellini, Pisanello, Della Robbia. When the Grand Duke Leopoldo abolished the death penalty in 1786, the instruments of torture were burned in the palace’s courtyard.

MUSEUMS OF THE MEDICI CHAPELS
(CAPPELLE MEDICEE)


These Medicean tombs are considered the greatest achievement of Renaissance architecture and sculpture. The complex holds the New Sacristy, started by Michelangelo and finished by Vasari. It also contains precious furnishings and reliquaries. In the apse, you can see drawings by Michelangelo and his pupils, some of them discovered in 1975.

NATIONAL MUSEUM OF ARCHEOLOGY

Established in 1870, in contains a Roman antiquarium with Etruscan bronzes, a jewels collection, a prehistoric section and other collections dating back to the Renaissance. An adjoining Egyptian museum contains collections unearthed in the last century.

PALATINE GALLERY & ROYAL APARTMENTS

The rooms of the Palatine Gallery were used, since the 18th century, to expose the most important paintings present in Palazzo Pitti, partly coming from the Medici’s collection. The halls of the Gallery are decorated by frescoes by Pietro da Cortona, Ciro Ferri and other 19th century artists. Works by Rubens, Velazquez, Titian, Van Dyck, Bronzino, Botticelli, Signorelli, Peruginos, Veronese and others. The Apartments hold furnishings, a series of incredible tapestries of Florentine and French manufacture, portraits, frescoes and stuccos.

BOBOLI GARDENS
(PALAZZO PITTI)


This is one of the largest and elegant Italian gardens, with ample grass fields, and extremely charming landscapes. It's also defined as a open air sculpture museum, since it hosts artworks from the Roman period and from the 1500 and 1600s, including an amphitheater enclosed by evergreen plants, the Grotto of Madama, the Grande Grotto, the sculpture of Venus by Giambologna and the group of Paride and Elena by Vincenzo de Rossi.

SILVER MUSEUM
(MUSEO DEGLI ARGENTI) (PALAZZO PITTI)


The museum holds a collection of valuable items from the Medici’s family: rock crystal cases, cabinets decorated with amber, altar frontals, cameos, ivories, jewels treasured by princess-bishops of Salzburg.

HARD STONES MUSEUM
(OPIFICIO DELLE PIETRE DURE)


This museums holds portraits of semi-precious stones, painting and mosaics on stone, furniture with stone inlays. There’s also a work-shop, whose tradition of high-quality restoration was created by the Medici’s family in the late 16th century.

SAN MARCO'S MUSEUM

Within the most ancient nucleus of the preexisting Dominican convent rebuild by Michelozzo from 1436 to 1446, the walls of its interiors are decorated with a series of frescoes by Beato Angelico who lived and worked in the convent.
